CLANBOB is back in business!!!!

Wow.

Okay, so ClanBOB is back online. It is the host of one of my favorite web comics, the Life of Riley. They are putting it on hold indefinitely for right now, but the archives are still (or rather, again) up.

This is the first comic. Start there. It gets AWESOME. I swear.

Angels. Demons. Rent.

Plus one of the all time greatest quotes...

"Physics, Calculus, Trigonometry...they're all my bitches! I am pure math!"

Oh yeah.

Oh yeah. Good luck, Josh.

By the way, did you catch any NBA last Thursday? There was a whole bunch of ads about the Kobe-Lebron match up in the second half of a double header. A lot. The NBA was pushing it so much that when the pregame crap started, one of the announcers actually said "Not to skip over the first game (Nets-Rockets, which was actually a damn good game), but you really have to be excited about Kobe versus Lebron, two of the leagues premier players, blah blah blah..."

Wow, could they BE any more blatant? Stay on message! Stay on message!

Anyway, the really funny thing about it is that Kobe sprained his ankle in the first quarter and they didn't even play against each other.

Ha!

Take that, advertising!

Stupid announcers. Just talk about the game and what's going on, not the "storyline" being pushed by idiots.

I'm totally with Dr. Z on this one. Except this isn't football.

Explanation of links!

So I've been emaning to do this for a while. My comments on some of the links o'er yonder. First up? Les Comics.

8Bit Theater is a sprite comic featuring the Final Fantasy 1 crew. Fantastic. Wonderful. Funny. Especially if you've played the game. Highly recommended.

College Roomies From Hell!!! is a comic that's been around the block a few times. Just turned 6. Early drawings are awful. Great plot, with lots of backstory, and some great characters. Fantastic comic. Revolves around 6 college roomates and their wacko adventures. Some of them are very wacko.

Doonesbury is Doonesbury. Political-ish, funny for those up on current events.

El Goonish Shive. Hmmm. Kind of weird. This is one of those comics I've been reading since its inception. Don't know if I'd find it as funny now. The author is frequently late, and some of the storylines can be kind of lame. Typical teenage comic with some weirdness. Were-squirrels, gender changing rays, all sorts of oddity. Not too bad, but lately it's been eh. But it did just finish a major story line, so it's kind of transitioning I suppose.

Get Your War On is fan-fucking-tastic. A clip art comic talking about war and politics in a highly amusing way. Never fails to make me laugh. No plot at all.

Life of Riley is amazing. Too bad it's been friggin down for ever.

Holy crap! I just checked angelknights.net, which is now back up! This comic is....odd. It's written by some anime loving Mexicans with a fetish for the Anglo-Saxons. Can be graphic, and many comics are definitely NSFW. Kind of weird, but still pretty cool. I will have to go back and read it now!

Oh, that reminds me. It's not up here, but Sinfest.net rules. Make sure it's .net, and NOT .com. That's a hentai site. Accidentally found that out while showing somebody this comic. Very funny, like Calvin and Hobbes only more risque. Thoroughly enjoyable, I've just lost touch with it.

Mega Tokyo is an Anime comic ala Love Hina. The artist spends more time drawing backgrounds (he used to be an architect) than anything else. It's good, but kind of weird. Involves a guy who has a fetish for teenage girls, so it's kind of weird. Yet cool. Kind of.

Penny Arcade is hit or miss. Some of their stuff is really funny. Some of it is not. Most comics require you to read the news post first, and then usually requires an understanding of the gaming industry or reading a lot of websites they link to to get it. Sometimes too elaborate. No real plot, just commentary on the gaming industry.

PvP grew on me, though I didn't like it at first. Centers around a gaming magazine and it's writers. Been around a LONG time. One of the originals, pretty funny.

Red Meat is.....weird. That's all I can really say. No real plot, just a bunch of random characters that are very odd. Don't know how to describe it. Can be REALLY funny.

RPGWorld is a recent discovery. Follows the characters in an RPG. Very funny if you've played FF7, or really any RPG. Especially the character who actually questions the mechanics of RPG worlds.

Sluggy Freelance is THE original web comic. Great character and plot development, involved story lines, and twists and turns and lots of weirdness. Hands Down the best webcomic out there. Reading from the beginning (think there's 8 years of comics?) is a must. The main character is named after Torgo from Manos: The Hands of Fate (of MST3K fame)!! Truly the best out there.

Sore Thumbs is a very recent webcomic. Anti-Bush gaming comic in anime style. I like it so far.

Staccato sucks. Don't read it.

This Modern World is a political wordy leftist comic. I like it, but you might not if you're not up on the blogosphere of politics. Been around for YEARS. 15 I think. This one is actually published in real newspapers!

That's it for right now.

Fantasy Football is over. I was in four leagues: a work league, Jason's league, and two random leagues.

In the work league the Jive Turkeys finished the year in second place out of six with a 9-5 record, but ended up getting third in the playoffs. Not too shabby. MVPs from my draft class were the dual QBs, Plummer and Bulger, WR Javon Walker and Baltimore's defense. Best pickups were Antonio Gates at TE and Jermoe Bettis at RB.

In Jason's league the Burninators finished the year in fourth place out of fourteen with an 8-6 record, getting third in the playoffs (8 teams, not 4 like the rest). This team was a bunch of no names. Best players were Antonio Gates and Washington's defense. Jason fell to me in the first round.

In my first random public league, the Hopping Iguanas finished the year in fourth place out of ten with an 8-6 record, getting third in the playoffs again. Donovan McNabb and Ladanian Tomlinson were the best players.

In my second random public league, the Silverados finished the year in second place out of ten with a 9-5 record, and getting second in the playoffs. My best finish! This league was tough, with only three teams finishing under .500. Crazy! Best players were Plummer again, Washington's D again, Gates again, and Tiki Barber and Curtis Martin.

So overall I went 34-22, or a .607 winning percentage. All four teams made the playoffs, two winning their first games, and all winning at least one. My playoff record was 5-4, with a 3-0 record in 3rd place games. Woo me!

Yes I am a colossal dork.
