Predictions for the Wizards for this year:
1. They will make the playoffs - pretty straightforward here. They have the second best record in the East, and the 7th best record in the NBA. And the East sucks. But, ironically, even though they have the second best record, and will most likely still have the second best record, they will only get the fourth seed because the NBA gives the winners of each division the highest three seeds. Even if they are, say, a .500 team like the Celtics. So the Wizards could end up playing the fifth seed, most likely the Magic, Cavs, or Pistons, another team being screwed by the seed rules, and be in for a tough time. Woohoo! But they WILL make the playoffs.
2. They will be in the top four of the East at the end of the year. Easy doing. Enough said.
3. They will gets 50 wins, double their wins from last season. Last season they had 25 wins (amazing how that math thing works). The Wizards are currently 29-19. THey have 34 games left. If they get the same record from their first 34 games (21-13), they will end up with a record of 50-32. If they keep at the ten win mark, they will be 46-36. The games they have left are 24 against teams without a winning record, 10 with. Of those ten games, they have already gone 5-6 against those teams. Figure them to keep that up and split the 10 at 5-5. Of the 24 games against losing teams, they already went 18-3. Keeping the 6-1 ratio intact, they will go 20-4, for a total of 25-9 for the rest of the season. Giving us a total of 54-28. Averaging the three cases (46 worst, 50 moderate, 54 best) yields us a, surprise surprise, 50 win season. Woo hoo!
Go basketball.
Anyone want to get in on a college basketball tournament seeding thing?
