Does anyone else think things have gone slightly out of hand?

"I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble. We have to learn to live happily in the present moment, to touch the peace and joy that are available now."

Thich Nhat Hanh

There was a beautiful young girl who became pregnant out of wedlock, and told her angry parents that the father was an old and revered Zen master with a repuation for living a pure life. When the angry parents accused the Master, all he said was, "Is that so?" After the child was born, the Master brought the baby into his house and raised it as his own. After a year passed, the girl, stricken with remore, finally recanted and told her parents that the Master was entirely innocent. The embarrassed parents came to fetch the child, apologizing to the Master and begging his forgiveness. All he said was: "Is that so?"

I'm going to Harrisonburg on Wednesday, March 30. Why, you ask?

Well, here's a little hint.

Predictions for the Wizards for this year:

1. They will make the playoffs - pretty straightforward here. They have the second best record in the East, and the 7th best record in the NBA. And the East sucks. But, ironically, even though they have the second best record, and will most likely still have the second best record, they will only get the fourth seed because the NBA gives the winners of each division the highest three seeds. Even if they are, say, a .500 team like the Celtics. So the Wizards could end up playing the fifth seed, most likely the Magic, Cavs, or Pistons, another team being screwed by the seed rules, and be in for a tough time. Woohoo! But they WILL make the playoffs.

2. They will be in the top four of the East at the end of the year. Easy doing. Enough said.

3. They will gets 50 wins, double their wins from last season. Last season they had 25 wins (amazing how that math thing works). The Wizards are currently 29-19. THey have 34 games left. If they get the same record from their first 34 games (21-13), they will end up with a record of 50-32. If they keep at the ten win mark, they will be 46-36. The games they have left are 24 against teams without a winning record, 10 with. Of those ten games, they have already gone 5-6 against those teams. Figure them to keep that up and split the 10 at 5-5. Of the 24 games against losing teams, they already went 18-3. Keeping the 6-1 ratio intact, they will go 20-4, for a total of 25-9 for the rest of the season. Giving us a total of 54-28. Averaging the three cases (46 worst, 50 moderate, 54 best) yields us a, surprise surprise, 50 win season. Woo hoo!

Go basketball.

Anyone want to get in on a college basketball tournament seeding thing?

Okay, so lately I have been trying to not really reference anything political, as this blog is not the place for it (LSB is). However, this item is so noteworthy, even though it dwells into the political arena a bit that I feel I must talk about it.

North Korea has nuclear weapons.

Why in the name of God have we been ignoring this?

We've been focused on Iraq.

Okay, enough politics. This is depressing.

So, anyone see Duke-UNC last night? Two things of note.

One, I saw Amanda, sister of Dan, on TV at the game. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Two, what the hell was UNC doing?? You have the ball with 18 seconds left and you're down by one and you just dribble the clock away? Take a freaking shot! I counted at least two or three times when they had a driving oppurtunity that would ahve led directly to a score or someone being open to get the kickback pass. That was just a bad choice by the UNC ball handler. Poor decision making.

Three (okay so I lied), did you know that the last 133 meetings between these two teams, going back FIFTY years, at least one of them has been ranked EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Wow, now that's a rivalry.

"My plans are always practical! It's the laws of physics that get in the way of my success."

Oh, how true that statement is.

This story is ridiculous. Just one more reason you should be REALLY careful about who you talk to on the internet.

Wow. Just, wow.
